I find the Act 3 cold Merc can temporarily be better here because they survive longer and slow Diablo down. It could be worse, melee has the problem of bosses having super high defense, so you’ll be the right level with fine attack rating and then run into a 40-55% hit rate for Diablo or Baal. Guides will say to pump skeletons to the exclusion of all else early, but without help you need something to keep your golem alive, and a way to do damage. You need curses and bone spear to attack when your summons die if you aren’t playing that way. Meta guides are normally for people running through with multiplayer. Kite him and focus on dodging and occasionally hitting him with bone spears. Lure Diablo on to bodies and hit him with corpse explosion. It will be a long fight, you will have to raise multiple armies from the River of Flame, I would clear space to the south for bodies too.ĭecrep works to slow Diablo and gives you more time to react to attacks. He will still probably die in one red lightning attack, but you might get him to survive less than direct hits. Put resist lightning stuff on your merc and leech if possible. Hardest boss by far, Baal should be easier. So people forget what a tough fight Diablo is. Aside from a handful of builds that can utilize synergies early on, Diablo is a tough fight, and summon necromancer probably has about the toughest time.Ĭompounding problems, most people rush the bosses with big parties and high level characters or much better gear from later in the game for their low level guys, and you’ll normally have one of the power classes (sorceress most of all) with you. The game is much, much harder using self found gear and playing alone or with other people using self found gear. It’s actually a bit better with synergies since skeletons get tougher. Even before LoD, Diablo would sweep away your army with one or two rings of fire.
